Collaborative Law

Collaborative law came about as an alternative to traditional litigation. Litigation is usually very expensive and time consuming. It can be confrontational for all parties involved. Family law issues are often particularly emotional, especially when children are involved. The usual court process has been viewed as negative and possibly harmful. When the parties attempt to reach an agreement regarding their dispute, litigation is almost always emotionally charged and results in a negative experience for the parties. Collaborative law is another option. It is an out-of-court process intended to produce an environment that helps the parties cooperate with each other to reach a settlement agreement.

Douglass Marberry has been trained in the collaborative law method. He is a specialist in this area of the law. He will meet with the parties and work toward reaching an agreement by giving them his professional guidance. When you meet with Mr. Marberry, you will agree to use collaborative law to resolve your issues. It is a negotiation process and requires the full participation of the parties.
